Odd homework, but easy points, if you want to do it. Those
who do not do this homework will not be penalized. In October, Mr. Hickam will be going to New York City, which he loves to do a few times each year. He usally has his set of restaurants he goes to and loves, but he wants your suggestions. Though you probably haven't gone there, you still could use the internet and find a few places that look amazing. That is how Mr. Hickam finds many of his places; plus, my Instagram feed suggests a lot of things in NYC. So, use the internet and come up with 3 restaurants you would want to go to if Mr. Hickam took you with him to the Big Apple (that is what they call New York City). You have to list them on a piece of paper and show him to get credit. I want to encourage you to look at the world, but will use this information to discuss mathematical thinking, so there is a connection. |

After watching each video below, you will rank each on a scale from 1-10
with 1 meaning it was poorly done and 10 being the explanation was
perfect. You will want to write down your score after each video on the
sheet of paper the substitute gives you since you will then have to go
to this
Google Form to put
your ratings in and you don't want to get confused with how you ranked
each video. Yes, you will turn in the paper, but I can tabulate things
way easier with the Google Form. Watch the following videos (about 25 total minutes worth): Basics 1 Average Division Multiplying Subtraction Sum Fill Down Fill Right Maximum Merge Minimum Row Height, Column Width Show Formulas Sort Tabs Wrap Text |

haven't finished it. You should watch each "Lesson Explanation" to the right
and then try the worksheet. If you strugle with any of the
worksheet problems, use the video to that problem to help you. The numbering of the concepts should help keep things better organized for you, so I left it (these are Algebra I concepts I taught in the past). Here are the worksheets that are in that packet: 8-1 Multiplying Variables 8-2 Dividing Variables 8-3 Powers with Variables 8-4 Negative Exponents 9-4 Factoring Out the GCF 10-4 Factors of Polynomials |

Date - Week 20 | Worksheet | Videos |
Monday, January 8 |
You
will be working a packet that I created for you, which will be
handed out in class. As long as you do
the packet and follow the diretions, you should get a GREAT grade on
this packet. You will also complete a Google Form later on after you
finish the packet. You will work on this packet today and then on
your own time. You will have until Friday, January 19 to complete
this packet. RULES 1. In class students will receive a printout of the 6 page packet. They will have to turn the packet back in to me showing me their work, so write everything down that you are trying. 2. All students will have to submit the Google Form (provided later) giving me their opinon of each puzzle. 3. After 20 minutes trying a puzzle, you can stop working it. Just remember to rank it on a scale from 1-10 and know that just because you couldn't get an answer, doesn't mean you didn't like the puzzle idea. 4. If you don't understand the directions to a puzzle, skip it and ask me about it after class at some point. 5. Read the directions to each puzzle TWICE. Many times students think they have an answer, but they have broken one of the rules. 6. Keep your answers to yourself, otherwise, you are cheating. No one likes a cheater! INTEGRITY MEANS EVERTHING! 7. Enjoy them and let your mind have fun! LOGIC PUZZLE PACKET |

All this week you will be doing JLABs in Algebra 2 to earn extra credit,
which must be turned in by the end of class this Friday.
Also, you can study for any retake of a test that you might want to do,
instead. All retakes must be completed by Tuesday, May 28th by the
end of the school day.
Either way, you must be doing academic work while you are in my room.
Jefferson Labs - http://education.jlab.org/solquiz/index.html At this site, you should check the box for 10 questions and the Algebra 2 box and you need to put your first and last name in the box. After you finish the 10 questions, you are to SUBMIT your test to mathintheusa@gmail.com and record it on this sheet that I gave you in class. You must show your scratch work and you will staple that scratch work to this sheet to be turned in at the end of class of Friday. The maximum extra credit points I will allow is 25 points and no one's final quarter grade can be above 100%. You may work on these for homework if you like, but you must submit them each time and you must show scratch work for every set of 10 questions you do. The 10 question quiz only counts if your score is 50% or higher. For each question you get correct, you will recieve .175 points. Remember you must email them to mathintheusa@gmail.com and you must show your scratch work. |
